Shopping in Paris may be synonymous with luxury flagship stores and gilded passages, but there is far more to it. Beyond the polished windows of the Champs-Élysées, a diverse shopping scene thrives, from design-forward concept stores in revitalized neighborhoods to the sprawling flea market on the city’s northern edge, where treasure hunters make annual pilgrimages for the next great find.

To navigate the city’s shopping scene, it’s helpful to get at least a bit familiar with some of Paris’s best neighborhoods for shopping. There’s the Golden Triangle, an affluent section of the 8th arrondissement that is home to luxury behemoths like Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, and Balenciaga. Then there’s Le Marais, a pocket of the city where meandering through the district’s narrow streets leads to boutiques stuffed with hand-crafted goods, shops selling natural beauty products, and design-focused concept stores. In Saint-Germain-des-Prés on the Left Bank, you’ll find plenty of antique shops, art galleries, and historic cafés, but also high-end retailers and what is perhaps the city’s most iconic department store, Le Bon Marché. For a classic bohemian vibe, hit up Montmartre for more than just the Sacré-Coeur: cafés, furniture stores, and vintage shops. In the cool Canal Saint-Martin neighborhood with its booming restaurant and art scenes, you’ll discover small brands in everything from fashion to homewares.

Whether you’re drawn to heritage craftsmanship, emerging designers, or the thrill of a vintage find, shopping in Paris has it all. Here, you’ll find our recommendations on both banks of the Seine for the best boutiques, markets, artisans, and more.

How we choose the best shops in Paris

Every shop on this list has been selected independently by Condé Nast Traveler editors and reviewed by a local contributor who has visited that business. Our editors consider both high-end and affordable shops and weigh everything from the products sold to the store’s design. We update this list as new shops open and existing ones evolve.
