Read my first trip to Goa with a detailed 5 day itinerary, best beaches, budget hotels, water sports, sunset cruises, and travel tips for Goa in December.

Goa was always a dream destination for me. When I finally planned this trip, it felt special for many reasons. It was my first-ever journey by flight and my first visit to a place I had imagined for years.

I took an early morning flight from Jaipur at 8 AM and reached Mumbai by 10 AM. My connecting flight was scheduled at noon, so I spent some time resting at Mumbai airport, quietly watching planes take off and land.

I landed at the Goa airport around 1:30 PM. The moment I stepped outside, the warm breeze, palm trees, and relaxed atmosphere made me smile. From the airport, I booked a cab and reached my hotel in Calangute.

Since December is peak season in Goa, I had booked my hotel almost two months in advance. If you are planning a winter trip, I highly recommend booking early.

I stayed at Hotel La Flamingo, located close to Calangute Beach. The hotel was affordable, clean, and surrounded by greenery. The rooms were spacious, and the view from the window was peaceful.

Its location made it easy to explore North Goa beaches and nearby restaurants.

Day 1: Calangute Beach and My First Evening in Goa

    Augoda Fort, Goa

I checked into the hotel around 3 PM, rested for a while, and had lunch. In the evening, I rented a bike for local sightseeing at 500 INR per day. Renting a bike is one of the best ways to explore Goa freely.

My first evening was spent at Calangute Beach. This beach is lively, vibrant, and perfect for first-time visitors. The golden sand, gentle waves, and long line of beach shacks create a festive vibe.

I walked barefoot along the shore and watched the sunset slowly melt into the sea. Dinner at a nearby beach shack ended my first day beautifully.

Day 2: Aguada Fort, Baga Beach, Vagator, and Water Sports

    Baga Beach

After breakfast, I headed out early on my bike. My first stop was Aguada Fort. Standing on the fort and looking at the endless Arabian Sea felt powerful and calming.

From there, I went to Baga Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Goa. Baga is famous for water sports and nightlife. I tried jet skiing for the first time, and the thrill was unforgettable.

👉 You can book Goa water sports and jet skiing experiences in advance on GetYourGuide.

Later, I visited Vagator Beach. Compared to Baga, Vagator felt more relaxed and scenic, with red cliffs and wide sea views. I also covered Palolem Beach, which is known for its peaceful and crescent-shaped shoreline.

Day 3: Old Goa Churches, Temples, and Mandovi River Cruise

Day three was dedicated to culture and history. I visited Old Goa and explored Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral. These churches are grand, peaceful, and full of history.

Later, I visited Mangeshi Temple, Safa Masjid, and Shanta Durga Temple. The temple complex of Shanta Durga is surrounded by greenery and offers a calming spiritual atmosphere.

In the evening, I went for a Mandovi River cruise. The ticket cost around 300 INR per person. Watching the sunset from the river was magical.

👉 You can book a Goa sunset cruise on Mandovi River online for convenience.

I ended the day by visiting Panjim Church, which looked beautiful when illuminated at night.

Day 4: Colva Beach, Paragliding, and Dona Paula Sunset

    Dona Puala Beach

On day four, I planned a trip to Colva Beach, located about 52 kilometers from Calangute. I went there on my Activa, and the ride took around two hours.

Colva Beach is one of the largest beaches in Goa. It felt peaceful, open, and less crowded than North Goa beaches. I took a long walk along the shore and collected small shells.

I also tried parasailing, which gave me a breathtaking aerial view of the sea and coastline.

In the evening, I went to Dona Paula Beach and watched the sunset from the highest point. The view was unforgettable.

Day 5: Anjuna Beach, Mapusa Market, and Goodbye Goa

    Mapusa Market

On my last morning, I visited Calangute Beach again. Early mornings at the beach are quiet and peaceful, offering a completely different vibe.

After breakfast, I checked out of the hotel and visited Mapusa Market to buy souvenirs, spices, and local items.

Before heading to the airport, I spent some time at Anjuna Beach. Known for its relaxed vibe and rocky shoreline, Anjuna felt like the perfect place to say goodbye to Goa.

I reached the airport around 4 PM and boarded my flight home.

Why This Goa Trip Will Always Stay With Me

This trip was about freedom, first experiences, and self-discovery. Traveling by flight for the first time and exploring Goa on my own terms gave me confidence and independence.

Goa gifted me memories I will always cherish.
