Count down to Christmas the dairy-free way, with this handy guide to my favourite vegan advent calendars in the UK. Catering to every budget, starting from under £6, you’ll be sure to find your ideal calendar.
We all have our own special traditions to celebrate the festive season. Whether it’s watching a festive film or picking out the Christmas tree, there are lots of ways to embrace the sense of anticipation this time of year brings.
And never far from anyone’s list of Christmas traditions – young or old – is the advent calendar. What better way to count down to the big day than getting a tiny chocolate treat each day? It’s certainly one of my favourite parts of the season!
For anyone who follows a dairy-free, vegan, or plant-based diet, thankfully, advent calendars have come a long way. Once a very niche item, with few options, this year, there are heaps of options in the UK when it comes to advent calendars made without dairy.
My Vegan Advent Calendar Top Picks For Christmas
To help you out, here are my top picks for vegan advent calendars available this Christmas. These cater to a range of tastes and budgets, from budget-friendly and kid-friendly options to more luxurious calendars for grown-ups.
Moo-Free

- 🦧 Palm oil-free
- 💷 Under £6
- 👨🍳 Made in the UK
- 🌱 Fully vegan company
- 🌾 Gluten-free
The Moo-Free range of fun dairy-free advent calendars – available at Ethical Superstore for £5.50 – is a great budget-friendly find for kids this Christmas. Available in ‘milk’ chocolate or white chocolate, there’s something for every taste.
What’s to love about Moo-Free is that it is a palm oil-free chocolate company. Plus all of its chocolate is dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan-friendly, and made in the UK. It’s also great for kids with dairy allergies, as all their chocolate is made in dairy-free facilities, so there’s no risk of cross-contamination.
Whilst not Fairtrade Certified, instead Moo-Free purchases UTZ Certified Cocoa for this product. This means the cocoa helps support farmers and sustainable farming.
Divine Dark Chocolate

- 🦧 Palm Oil Free
- 💷 Under £6
- 👩🌾 Fairtrade Certified
- 🌍 Certified B-Corp
Divine’s dark chocolate vegan advent calendar (£5.91 from Ethical Superstore) is one for dark chocolate lovers. Behind each door reveals another vegan chocolate treat, made with 70% cocoa solids, which are palm oil-free, and fairly traded from farmers in Ghana.
Founded over 20 years ago, this certified B-Corp – a company which has been independently verified as balancing profit with looking after people and the planet – has a unique business model.
Ownership of Divine is split between a British company and Kuapa Kokoo, a Ghanaian cocoa farmers’ cooperative. This co-operative is made up of 85,000 farmers who own 44% of the company. This means that, as well as being paid a guaranteed price for the cocoa it grows, the farmers also earn part of the profit.
Montezuma’s

- 🦧 Palm Oil Free
- ♻️ 100% Recyclable Packaging
- 🤝 Ethically Sourced Ingredients
- 👨🍳 Made in the UK
- 🌺 Organic
Ethical chocolatier Montezuma’s (available at Ethical Superstore for £14.39) also offers a luxury dark chocolate vegan advent calendar this Christmas.
Made with organic dark chocolate, it has a generous chunk of chocolate behind every door and decorative and festive illustrations covering the front.
Each calendar contains 25 chocolates, so you even get a chocolate come Christmas morning!
In terms of ethics, Montezuma’s works with its suppliers to ensure that all its chocolate meets stringent ethical criteria and certifications. This includes Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, Soil Association, and Cocoa Horizons.
Nomo

- 🦧 Palm oil-free
- ♻️ 100% recyclable packaging
- 🤝 Ethically sourced ingredients
- 🌾 Gluten-Free
- 🌱 Fully vegan company
I absolutely love Nomo’s vegan chocolate, so I was delighted to see that it has a few exciting advent calendar options this year, from £6.
Here you’ll find 24 mini chocolates that are free from dairy, gluten, eggs, and nuts, as well as palm oil. There’s no compromising on taste though – I find Nomo’s chocolate so tasty!
As well as being palm-oil freei its chocolate is made from Rainforest Alliance-certified ingredients.
Happi

- 🧴 100% Plastic-Free Advent Calendar
- 🤝 Ethically Sourced Ingredients
- 🌾 Gluten-Free
- 💝 Gives Back To Charity
- 🌱 Fully vegan company
Happi – available at Amazon – is my top choice for an advent calendar that’s vegan-friendly and 100% plastic-free.
Each window contains a delicious piece of Happi’s oat milk chocolate. This plant-based chocolate is made from single-origin Colombian cocoa that is sure to be a hit with both kids and grown-ups.
It’s the high cacao content that gives it this delicious taste. This means less sugar is required to get the desired taste. In fact, Happi says they use 35% less sugar compared to other leading brands.
In terms of nuts, this advent calendar is nut-free. However, it is packed in a facility that also handles nuts, peanuts, and sesame, amongst other allergens. Therefore, if severe allergies feature in your life, do check with Happi to make sure this is the right option for you.
In terms of ethics, Happi is proud to be 100% slave free. Happi says that it buys its cacao directly from farmers and growers with a full ‘farm-to-bar’ supply chain. This means that Happi knows who grows the cacao beans and what they get paid.
Happi also donates 1% of its annual net sales revenues to causes, such as mental health organisations.
Plamil So-Free

- 🏆My top choice for those with nut allergies
- 🥜 Nut Free
- 🌺 Organic
- 🌾 Gluten-Free
- 👨🍳 Made in the UK
- 🦧 Palm Oil Free
- 🌱 Fully vegan company
If you are looking for a dairy-free advent calendar that is also free from gluten and nuts, then Plamil – available at Ethical Superstore for £6.99 – is the one to go for. All Plamil products are, as standard, dairy-free and gluten-free, and produced in Plamil’s own ‘no nuts’ factory.
Again, if you/your child has severe allergies, then I always recommend double-checking with Plamil though that this advent calendar is suitable.
What’s to love about these vegan advent calendars is that they are all certified organic and palm oil-free. Plamil also uses only Fairtrade-certified cocoa and avoids child slave labour in its supply chain.
