Abstract
Individuals with learning disabilities have long faced health inequalities. It remains a serious issue in the UK’s health system, highlighted by the large proportion of premature deaths in the learning disability community. This article explores why these patients often experience poor care and health outcomes, and outlines the strategies health professionals can use to address and minimise these inequalities. These strategies include making reasonable adjustments and having sufficient education, training and support.
