Learn More › It’s well known that a bright light deters would-be thieves, but home dwellers either had to have wiring experience or pay a professional electrician to install outdoor lights until the advent of solar flood lights. Today’s solar flood lights open up a whole new world of illumination—they’re affordable, powerful, and many are a snap to install. My favorite was the GE Outdoor Security Flood Light thanks to its adjustability and overall illumination. In the past…
The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here. Our editors have personally used and researched the top clean makeup brands — these are our favorites that are natural, organic, and engineered to work beautifully with mature skin. As we age, our skin concerns evolve. While hormonal acne might be a thing of the past, our skin’s texture might evolve, and products that we’ve used for years will suddenly no longer be a good fit. When this happens, our makeup routine may need a bit of updating…
If you’ve ever eaten a maple-drizzled pancake stack and felt like crawling back into bed an hour later… you’re not alone. I love a sweet start now and then, but 90% of the time, I’m starting the day with a savory breakfast to keep my blood sugar steady and my energy up. A fiber- and protein-rich breakfast doesn’t just taste delicious—it also supports hormone balance, mood, and focus. (Meaning, that 10 a.m. Zoom feels a lot more doable.) This Smoked Salmon Breakfast Bowl is the first edition in my new Savory Breakfast Bowl series, and it’s my current go-to. Vibrant,…
Hackers planted malicious code in open source software packages with more than 2 billion weekly updates in what is likely to be the world’s biggest supply-chain attack ever. The attack, which compromised nearly two dozen packages hosted on the npm repository, came to public notice on Monday in social media posts. Around the same time, Josh Junon, a maintainer or co-maintainer of the affected packages, said he had been “pwned” after falling for an email that claimed his account on the platform would be closed unless he logged into a site and updated his two-factor authentication credentials. Defeating 2FA the…

Over time, gypsum-board walls can sustain ugly cracks or holes. Fortunately, drywall is easy to repair easy, but there is an art to it. Here’s how to patch a hole in drywall so it’s indiscernible to landlords, homebuyers, or visitors. DO use the right type of joint compound. When repairing minor scratches or dents smaller than ½ inch across, fill them with a thin layer of joint compound (also known as drywall mud). Apply…
Two current and two former Meta employees disclosed documents to Congress alleging that the company may have suppressed research on children’s safety, according to a report from The Washington Post. According to their claims, Meta changed its policies around researching sensitive topics — like politics, children, gender, race, and harassment — six weeks after whistleblower Frances Haugen leaked internal documents that showed how Meta’s own research found that Instagram can damage teen girls’ mental health. These revelations, which were made public in 2021, kicked off years of hearings in Congress over child safety on the internet, an issue that remains…
The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here. We love using natural products, especially in the bedroom. These are our top picks for safe sex toys that are cute, discreet, and have other perks, too. Even a decade ago, owning a pleasure device of any kind felt slightly shameful. It was a secret to be hidden away in our most private drawers, furtively used on lonely nights. This feeling was, in part, due to how sex toys were manufactured to be blatantly realistic and obnoxiously large.…
The Treasury Department has quietly acknowledged that if the Supreme Court rules against the Trump administration, Washington may be forced to refund nearly half of the tariffs collected so far. That amounts to tens of billions of dollars already paid by importers, potentially creating one of the largest court-mandated fiscal reversals in modern U.S. history.A Supreme Court Showdown Over Trump’s Trade AuthorityDepositphotos Photo by TennesseeAt the heart of the dispute is whether former President Donald Trump overstepped his authority under trade law when he imposed sweeping tariffs without additional congressional approval.A federal appeals court has already cast doubt on the administration’s…
September is already feeling so fresh—the kids are back in school, and I’m leaning into the cozy rituals that always give me a little thrill this time of year. Stocking up on new supplies for my home office, honing in my fall wardrobe essentials, and returning to my daily writing routine all feel like the reset I’ve been craving. More than anything, though, I’ve been focusing on staying present and finding joy in the small, unplanned moments. Over the long weekend, we had one of those rare, blissful days with nothing on the calendar. Instead of filling it with the…
