The Plot: Sun, Sand, and… Serial Killing?
Kitty is desperately trying to keep her “murderous urges” in check while she travels to watch her mother marry a total stranger. She should be sipping rosé and working on her tan, but a toxic online influencer named Blaze Bundy is making it impossible to stay retired.
What I loved about this installment is that it feels like The White Lotus meets Dexter. The contrast between the glitzy French Riviera and Kitty’s dark inner monologue is hilarious. If you are a fan of Killing Eve, the vigilante’s theme of justice here will be right up your alley.
Why You’ll Root for Kitty (Again)
Is she a serial killer? Yes. Is she relatable? Surprisingly, also yes! Katy Brent is a fantastic at using dark humor to talk about very real issues like online misogyny and toxic masculinity. You’ll find yourself nodding along with Kitty’s frustrations even as she’s plotting her next “casual little kill.” It’s that rare kind of book that manages to be Gossip Girl with a body count while still making a serious point about how women are treated in the digital age.

If you like your thriller with a side of sass and a lot of bite, then absolutely you should up I Bet You’d Look Good in a Coffin by Kathy Brent shared in this review. It’s fast-paced, wickedly clever, and the perfect follow-up to How to Kill Men and Get Away With It. Just maybe don’t read it while sitting next to an annoying influencer at the beach!
