Abstract
In response to factors including the high rate and poor predicted outcomes of children in care in Blackpool, the Early Parenthood Service was established. It offers tailored parenting support for vulnerable families during the antenatal and postnatal period. In the service’s first 26 months, more than half of the families who were being supported during pregnancy with a considerable risk of being separated from their baby following the birth ultimately went home with the baby. The service has also received positive feedback from both service users and staff.
