What are you up to this weekend? We’re hosting a Halloween gathering tonight — the boys stuck bats all around our house! — and on Sunday, we’ll be cheering on the New York marathon. (Are any CoJ readers running?) Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

Catbird, our long-time favorite jewelry brand, is having their annual sale before the holidays. The #1 item on my wishlist is this gorgeous ring. This necklace would also make a lovely gift.

My friend Erika just had her baby — how gorgeous is this photo??

How I APPLAUDED Phoebe Robinson’s reel on guys complaining about their wives.

The “whimsy” pieces in these Maine-made puzzles are delightful. “Whimsy pieces are pieces that resemble objects or animals…If you’re doing a puzzle of a beautiful Italian landscape, you might as well have a piece in the shape of a wine glass or a sailboat… One of my favorites is a woman who commissioned a giant puzzle to commemorate her debut novel. So, we did a puzzle of the book’s cover but incorporated all these whimsy pieces that spoke to the characters and the plot.”

Have you listened to Lily Allen’s new album, a play-by-play of her pried-open marriage and divorce from actor David Harbour? I felt like I was catching up with an old friend, jaw on the ground! Said my friend Alison: “The best gossip session of my life.”

    Into this stick-of-butter outfit.

Oooh, such a cozy rental apartment in London.

My beloved friend Adam’s story of being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. “For the past year, I’ve had a tremor that Craig would notice whenever I held up my fork or the remote control or my phone to play Connections. We chalked it up to twitchiness or nerves but the tremor persisted.”

The new HBO series I Love LA is being described as a west-coast Girls.

New York City loves a little treat. Here are 46 favorites. Which would you go for? (NYTimes gift link)

I don’t usually pay much attention to runway shows, but Celine knocked it out of the park. This color combo! This belt placement! This 1910s equestrian!

Lastly, nine ways Kate Baer is making her 40s her best decade, including a sex playlist (“I don’t want to hear mouth sounds” lol) and how to deepen female friendships.

    Plus, three reader comments:

Says S.Lee on teaching kids emotional regulation: “As an eighth-grader growing up in Korea, I went through a period of extreme isolation. A complete loner, no friends, a very difficult time in my young life. One day during lunch, I went to a payphone (it was the late ’90s) and called my mom. I didn’t say much, just that it was an especially hard day. An hour later, my homeroom teacher came to tell me to pack up my backpack. My mom picked me up from school, and we went straight to the train station. We boarded the next train out of Seoul and got off as soon as we’d left the city. There was a small river, and we went hiking in the mountains and ate dinner at a local restaurant. She didn’t ask me what was wrong; we just spent the day together, walking and talking. That day gave me the strength to live through the whole year. Sometimes you just need time with someone who loves you, and that is enough.”

Says Olivia Jane on Catherine Newman’s health essay: “Catherine, it’s a good thing we don’t have your number, because the number of heart-based emojis and texts of caring we would stream your way would be just too much. Instead know the whole CoJ community is carrying you along in our own way. Big hugs, Catherine. Big hugs.”

Says Jo on a sweet gift: “I’ve never related to a creature so much as I relate to Freddie’s dog being casual.”
